In February 2020, Julian joined Alex and Lüdo in Bern to create Black Toaster, a band that
defines its genre as Heavy Rock, which can be understood as not quite Stoner Rock, not
quite Punk, but is definitely meant to be played loud.
The band's momentum was quickly cut short by two cancelled gigs and the very gloomy
period that followed. In June 2021, Black Toaster self-produced and mixed their first 3-
track record entitled "Animal" released in October 2021. This was noticed by the producer
of the Couleur 3 show "The Jam", Frank Matter, and the band was invited to take part in
the live radio broadcast on 19 November 2021. This was followed by a 6 month absence
of a band member, a return to business, and (finally!) a first concert in September 2022 at
La Bille in La Sarraz (VD), followed by three others in underground locations.
In January 2023, the band released the first single of the year entitled “Demolition Blues”,
an out of era, 1:31 self-certified banger that has been very well received by the
community that follows the embryonic stage of Black Toaster.
The band is currently recording a second 3-track record for the summer. All members of
Black Toaster are highly motivated blokes, writing songs with a genuine Rock’n’Roll
heritage, with a common long-term vision for the band.
Looking into the future, the next step will be to carry out a recording project at Mazzive
Sound Productions Studio with Serge Christen (Modern Day Heroes). But before that,
Black Toaster will follow his advice: “Go out and play gigs!"
